The selected volunteer will review the NGO’s current financial systems and controls, which currently combine paper-based accounting records and Excel spreadsheets, and provide recommendations for improving financial management processes. Responsibilities

  • Review the NGO’s financial management systems, controls, and accounting processes.
  • Assess the organization’s current hybrid accounting system (paper records and Excel spreadsheets).
  • Recommend improvements to financial management structures and internal controls.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of implementing an accounting software system.
  • Support the design of a new chart of accounts and improved accounting framework.
  • Train and coach local staff on improved financial management practices.
  • Review organizational budgets, programme budgets, and financial management tools.
  • Assist the NGO in understanding full program costs and managing donor funding requirements.

Requirements

  • Professional background in accounting, auditing, or financial management.
  • Experience working with non-profit or charitable organizations is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, budgeting, and accounting systems.
  • Ability to work in developing country environments and support capacity building.
  • Strong communication and mentoring skills for training NGO staff.
