Service Designer
<p><b>Salary: £117,000 - 143,000 per year</b></p>
<b>Requirements:</b>
<ul><li>Extensive experience working within central government</li><li>Hands-on experience with GDS</li><li>Strong knowledge of user-centred design principles</li><li>Ability to map and analyze complex service ecosystems</li><li>Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams</li><li>Proficiency in designing collaboratively and openly</li><li>Skills in facilitating workshops and co-creation sessions</li><li>Advocate for user-centred and inclusive design practices</li><li>Experience mentoring less senior designers</li><li>Ability to develop service strategies and roadmaps for transformation</li><li>Strong communication skills to convey design concepts visually</li></ul>
<b>Responsibilities:</b>
<ul><li>Lead the service design of end-to-end services that meet user needs and deliver policy intent</li><li>Ensure accessibility and usability across digital touchpoints and service journeys</li><li>Map and analyze complex service ecosystems, identifying pain points and opportunities</li><li>Collaborate with teams including policy, operations, product, delivery, system design, and user-centred design</li><li>Design collaboratively and engage with the team and wider stakeholders</li><li>Map existing systems and processes using verified information to provide evidence</li><li>Develop service blueprints, journey maps, and other visual artefacts</li><li>Facilitate workshops and co-creation sessions with stakeholders and users</li><li>Align service design with organizational goals, technical constraints, and delivery capabilities</li><li>Track pain points outside of current delivery for future consideration</li><li>Mentor and guide less senior service designers and contribute to the wider design community</li><li>Ensure services are designed for scalability, sustainability, and continuous improvement</li></ul>
