Senior Network Architect GCP
<p><b>Salary: £36,000 - 60,000 per year</b></p>
<b>Requirements:</b>
<ul><li>Strong, hands-on experience with GCP networking, including VPCs, subnets, firewall rules, routing, and peering.</li><li>Proven expertise in hybrid connectivity, specifically Cloud VPN and Interconnect.</li><li>Advanced experience using Terraform and Terraform Cloud for network IaC.</li><li>Proficient in Python scripting for infrastructure automation.</li><li>Experience integrating infrastructure workflows into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, or Harness.</li><li>Solid understanding of GCP Organisation Policy and policy-as-code frameworks such as Sentinel or OPA.</li><li>GCP certification, ideally Professional Cloud Network Engineer or equivalent.</li><li>Experience working with internal developer platforms or cloud engineering portals such as Backstage (nice to have).</li></ul>
<b>Responsibilities:</b>
<ul><li>Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-scale GCP Virtual Data Centre (VDC) network architectures.</li><li>Build and manage VPCs, subnets, firewall rules, routing, and VPC peering to enable secure, scalable connectivity.</li><li>Implement hybrid connectivity using Cloud VPN and Interconnect to support on-prem and multi-cloud integration.</li><li>Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code for GCP network resources using Terraform and Terraform Cloud.</li><li>Automate network provisioning and configuration using Python scripting.</li><li>Define and enforce GCP Organisation Policies to meet security, compliance, and governance requirements.</li><li>Integrate network deployments into CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and release.</li><li>Implement policy-as-code guardrails using Sentinel or OPA to ensure consistent network governance.</li><li>Optimise network performance, resilience, and availability through monitoring, logging, and proactive tuning.</li><li>Partner with security teams to embed network security best practices, including firewall design, private access, and service perimeters.</li><li>Support migration of legacy network designs into standardised, reusable VDC templates.</li><li>Diagnose and resolve complex, multi-layer network issues across GCP environments.</li></ul>
