Senior Data Engineer - Fixed Term Contract
<p><b>Salary: £55,000 - 55,000 per year</b></p>
<b>Requirements:</b>
<ul><li>Strong experience as a Senior Data Engineer in modern data environments.</li><li>Deep expertise in Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, and Lakehouse architectures.</li><li>Proven ability to design scalable, modular, and maintainable data solutions.</li><li>Experience working in cloud platforms (Azure preferred).</li><li>Solid understanding of data governance, metadata, and quality frameworks.</li><li>Confidence influencing stakeholders and translating complex requirements into solutions.</li><li>A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset with a passion for engineering excellence.</li></ul>
<b>Responsibilities:</b>
<ul><li>Design and implement complex ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks (Python, SQL, DLT).</li><li>Build and optimise Delta Lake tables with effective partitioning and performance strategies.</li><li>Contribute to Lakehouse architecture design, ingestion patterns, and data product boundaries.</li><li>Ensure solutions align with governance, security, and lineage standards (Unity Catalog).</li><li>Implement automated data quality testing, monitoring, and observability.</li><li>Optimise cluster usage, job orchestration, and cost efficiency.</li><li>Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers.</li><li>Drive continuous improvement through reusable components, frameworks, and innovation.</li></ul>
