Automation Software Engineer
<p><b>Salary: £36,000 - 50,000 per year</b></p>
<b>Requirements:</b>
<ul><li>At least 12 months recent, hands-on experience with Python3 automation classes</li><li>Deployment automation with Ansible and other config tools</li><li>Bash and PowerShell scripting for OS automation</li><li>Large infrastructure deployment and troubleshooting hardware/software issues</li><li>Advanced coding features like Workflows, Desired State Configuration, and Bare Metal Deployment</li><li>Valid SC security clearance</li><li>Professional certification such as CCNP, VMware VCP, RHCE, or OCA within the last five years</li><li>Clear communication skills and innovative problem-solving abilities</li><li>Comfortable working in an Agile environment</li><li>Good knowledge of MS Office Suite</li><li>Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo) (desirable)</li><li>Familiarity with Defence Digital or delivering secure solutions in the UK public sector (desirable)</li><li>Relevant university degree in Computer Science at bachelors or Masters level (desirable)</li></ul>
<b>Responsibilities:</b>
<ul><li>Developing complex Python3 automation classes for production-level systems, ensuring they are dynamic and parameterised for reliable deployment</li><li>Creating and managing automation using Ansible, Jenkins, Bash, and PowerShell to support infrastructure deployment across varied environments</li><li>Reverse engineering legacy applications and manual instructions into automated, zero-touch packages</li><li>Collaborating within an Agile team, supporting system testing, reviewing code, and maintaining clear documentation</li><li>Working closely with Service Management to troubleshoot and resolve issues, ensuring high standards of operational excellence</li><li>Utilising version control tools like Git and BitBucket, and project management platforms such as JIRA and Confluence</li></ul>
