<b>Requirements:</b>
<ul><li>Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related science discipline</li><li>Excellent verbal communication skills, including delivering complex concepts through presentations</li><li>Strong written skills, including technical report writing</li><li>Proven problem-solving ability with experience troubleshooting complex systems</li><li>Ability to manage, manipulate and analyse data effectively</li><li>Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and their integration</li><li>Ability to work independently and manage personal workload effectively</li><li>Good working knowledge of the systems engineering lifecycle</li><li>4 years relevant experience (desirable)</li><li>Experience leading or participating in tests and trials, including EHS responsibilities (desirable)</li><li>Hands-on experience with integration, verification and validation of prototype hardware (desirable)</li><li>Experience designing and executing system tests and trials (desirable)</li><li>Programming experience (e.g., MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW) (desirable)</li><li>Experience in defence, maritime or naval engineering environments (desirable)</li><li>Knowledge of naval or marine systems and environmental interactions (desirable)</li><li>Experience participating in at-sea trials (desirable)</li><li>Professional, reliable and flexible team player</li><li>Proactive, with the confidence to make sound decisions</li><li>Highly motivated, energetic and able to see the bigger picture</li><li>Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills</li><li>Excellent time management in a fast-paced, multitasking environment</li><li>High attention to detail and commitment to scientific rigour</li><li>Strong focus on environmental, health and safety standards</li><li>Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas</li><li></li></ul>
<b>Responsibilities:</b>
<ul><li>Design, build, test and develop low TRL prototype systems and concepts</li><li>Plan and lead laboratory and field trials, acting as Trials Officer where required</li><li>Design scientific test plans and test serials to meet technical requirements</li><li>Select, configure and operate measurement and instrumentation equipment</li><li>Design bespoke test setups and systems</li><li>Write trials documentation including test plans, method statements and EHS risk assessments</li><li>Lead and participate in system integration, verification and validation activities</li><li>Hands-on troubleshooting and repair of complex mechanical and electrical systems</li><li>Develop bespoke test software (e.g., MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW) for modelling, data processing and analysis</li><li>Analyse and interpret data to identify meaningful trends and conclusions</li><li>Manage logistics, facilities, subcontractors and test locations</li><li>Engage with customers, stakeholders, engineers and research scientists</li><li>Contribute to bid and proposal activity, including technical solutions and effort estimates</li><li>Deliver work to agreed time, cost and quality targets</li><li></li></ul>

<p>We are seeking an experienced and motivated engineer or scientist to support the development of low Technology Readiness Level (TRL) research concepts. This role offers a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical implementation within a multidisciplinary applied technologies team. We provide training and development to support your transition into this role. Our company values flexibility in working arrangements and may consider part-time or condensed hours. Additionally, this position may require working in challenging environments and achieving full Security Clearance (SC).</p>
