MongoDB Site Reliability
<p><b>Salary: £40,000 - 75,000 per year</b></p>
<b>Requirements:</b>
<ul><li>To be successful as a MongoDB Site Reliability Engineer, I am looking for candidates who have the following experience:</li><li>Working in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, and MongoDB administration within financial services.</li><li>Utilizing MongoDB features such as replicaset, sharding, backups, performance tuning, and shell scripting.</li><li>Writing scripts in Python or Bash to automate tasks and reduce manual work.</li><li>Highly valued skills may also include:</li><li>Using Percona, ClusterControl, CI/CD tools, and automation platforms like Ansible or Chef.</li><li>Monitoring systems with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, and managing containers with Kubernetes.</li><li>Building APIs with FastAPI and supporting scalable, high-performance systems.</li><li>To assess your suitability, I will consider key critical skills such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology capabilities, as well as job-specific technical skills.</li></ul>
<b>Responsibilities:</b>
<ul><li>In this role, I expect you to effectively monitor and maintain our bank’s critical technology infrastructure while resolving complex technical issues and minimizing operational disruptions. Your core accountabilities will include:</li><li>Providing technical support for our service management function to resolve complex issues for specific clients or groups of clients.</li><li>Developing our support model and service offering to enhance customer and stakeholder service.</li><li>Executing preventative maintenance tasks on hardware and software and utilizing monitoring tools and metrics to identify, prevent, and address potential issues for optimal performance.</li><li>Maintaining a knowledge base with detailed documentation of resolved cases for future reference, self-service opportunities, and knowledge sharing.</li><li>Analyzing system logs, error messages, and user reports to identify root causes of hardware, software, and network issues, providing resolutions by fixing or replacing faulty components and applying configuration changes.</li><li>Proactively assessing support activities, implementing automations when appropriate to maintain stability, and driving efficiency.</li><li>Actively tuning monitoring tools, thresholds, and alerting to ensure issues are identified promptly.</li></ul>

<p>This role will be based in Knutsford. As an Assistant Vice President, I expect you to advise and influence decision-making, contribute to policy development, and ensure operational effectiveness. You will collaborate closely with other functions and business divisions and lead a team performing complex tasks using well-developed professional knowledge and skills. Setting objectives for team members, coaching them towards those objectives, and appraising their performance will be part of your responsibilities. <br><br>If you do not have direct leadership responsibilities, I expect you to lead collaborative assignments, guiding team members through structured assignments and identifying specialization needs. You will also be involved in consulting on complex issues and providing advice to support the resolution of escalated issues. Your role will require risk mitigation and the development of new policies and procedures in support of our control and governance agenda. <br><br>You will engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources, creatively solving problems while effectively communicating complex information to stakeholders.
